Do you think you know your music?
For 2010 I thought I'd spice things up a little bit, so track #18 on this year's cd features a medley I put together of the song "Winter Wonderland" as comprised by 30 different artists who have performed the song. Can you name them all? OK, can you name some of them?! In putting this together I tried to select only a portion from each artist that would be identifiable on its own- I wanted the volume and diversity of music genres to present the biggest challenge to identifying them all. But some of the snippets are small so it is a real challenge...
WARNING- THE ANSWERS ARE NOW BELOW SO IF YOU HAVE NOT TRIED IT YET DON'T SCROLL DOWN!!
I refrained from including totally obscure entries like the singing Del Rubio triplets and their performance of the song on the PeeWee Herman Christmas TV special! I also kept away from known singers who delivered uninspiring (read: unidentifiable) versions of the song like Bette Midler, Chicago, Garth Brooks, Radiohead, and others. Many artists didn't seem to know all the words, or they will sing one or two verses and then hand the keys over to a choir of children. So it was a real challenge and pretty time consuming to put together. Nobody else besides me knows the answer to all of the artists- so I am going to offer prizes for those who succeed or at least try to name all the artists.
Congrats to grand prize winner Jeff Dinopoulos who named 30/30 artists!
The 2010 official prizewinners are as follows:
Jeff Dinopoulos correctly named all 30 out of 30 artists in the medley. I can't believe he was able to name ALL of them! Jeff had his choice of the three available prizes and he chose the guided fly fishing trip.
There was a tie for second place, as Chris Duerring and Jim Carr each had 22 correct answers. The two names were put in a hat and Jim Carr's name was pulled out. Let the nepotism comments begin! He selected the cash donation to the CF foundation in his name. End nepotism comments! That means that Chris Duerring is awarded the 3rd prize: she chose a framed picture of Paradise Peak near Seward Alaska.
Special mention goes to Matt N., my physical therapist at MA General Hospital who placed 4th with his entry.
